“Don’t Get it Right Get it Going” is one saying that had helped me get as far as I am right now in various parts of my life.

“The longest journey starts with a single step.”

Most people look at what it would really take to do something, then they look at the amount of work involved and get intimated and as a result they never start.  If I would have done that when learning how to snowboard eight years ago  I would not have a that skill today.  I believe in sports as with anything worthwhile in life getting good at is going to take time.  You are gonna need to put in the time.  You wanna learn how to play the guitar, I don’t care how musically talented you are not going to pick up the guitar and play “stair way to heaven”

“Anything you want to do well you must be willing to do it poorly at first” This is one of those simple sayings that Gary Halbert told me. It got me thinking hes absolutely right.  This is where I think alot of people get stuck.   You have to accept the fact that your going to suck at first.  Michael Jordan I can bet wasn’t very good the first time he ever played basketball.

Remember Doing something poorly is better than doing nothing at all. Like Wayne Gretzky said you miss 100% of the shots you do not take.

Persistence and Hard work trumps Talent
and their is even more evidence to support this. In Malcolm Gladwell’s book Outliers: The Story of Success he talks about the 10,000 hr rule.  Citing Examples from Bill Gates to the Beatles all how they spent over 10,000 hrs perfecting their craft.  The most interesting example was a study done of the amount of practice time vs skill level of the violinist.  They found a direct correlation between the amount of practice and the skill level.   They could not find one “natural musician” in their study.

If you want something in life and you have been putting off for the fear of it taking to long.  Break it down into baby steps.   Think of it and take it one step at a time because in reality that is the only way that you are going to accomplish anything.  You can’t lose 50 lbs if you don’t lose the first lb.  Don’t worry about it being perfect, that was big problem of mine.  This blog is a example of that, it is not perfect, you will see it change, but I did the most important thing and that is I got it going.

Why Did I set up this blog? There are Three primary reasons for this blog

#1 To Help People – Honestly I love teaching, and while investing all of this time in learning, I have learned so many things that I want to share that I believe can help people in their lives.

#2 For Exposure - Yes this reason is completely selfish, but blogs are a great way for cheap exposure. I am taking Gary Vaynerchuk’s advice from Crush It and building a personal Online Brand. You can read all the books in the world but if you don’t expose it to other people/the market place it is useless knowledge.

#3 For A Job -  Pretty Self Explanatory

I have learned so much in the last 8 months I know that I can bring value to the marketplace. You would never know what I am capable unless I tell you.
