First off this Book is AMAZING!

I am really getting alot out of reading a book a week and I suggest it to everyone if they can find the time. Anyway Robert Ringer’s book are very practical and I have learned alot from them.

Of all the quote on quote success guru’s Ringer’s writing really meshes. I don’t know why it just does. So thanks Dan Kennedy and Jay Abraham for bringing Ringers work to my attention. I actually Today just ordered his other book million dollar habits.

He starts off the book by saying

“Nothing Happens until something moves” – Albert Einstein

And you know what that makes sense. There is a saying that an average idea acted upon is better than 1000 great ideas never acted upon. Lots of people have great ideas most people don’t act on them. The people that did are the movers and shakers of the world like Richard Branson and Larry Page.

In the later chapters he covered the law of averages and he explained in a way that made sense. He says that everyone knows of the law of averages but many people do not use it.

Like all the Robert Ringer books it’s just alot of commonsense, but it’s so much commonsense that you never take the time to think about it and that is really what this book does. Action Produces Results. Not Meditation or the Secret.

This is a book that I am going to read and reread because it is above all inspiring and motivational. I don’t want to give away too much but here are some of the quotes from the book

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the one you did.” – Mark Twain

“Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness with out action.” – Benjamin Disrali

“Somebody should tell us, right at the start of our lives, that we are dying. Then we might live life to the limit, every minute of every day. Do it! I say. Whatever you want to do, do it now! There are only so many tomorrows.” – Michael Landon

and Finally

“Action is life – and life is meant to be lived.” – Robert Ringer

This is part 2 of what I learned from Eben Pagan. Check Out Pt 1 Here

Money isn’t Real

Money has no intrinsic value meaning that there is nothing backing money. Focusing on Money doesn’t build wealth. We need to focus on Value. Alot of what Eben teaches is all about creating value which he does through information products.

Moving the Free Line

All of us as humans have justice mechanism. Meaning that we are constantly worried about things being fair. We are very worried about getting ripped off.

There was an interesting experiment done with two people. Person A was given $100 dollars and the choice of how to split the money up. Person B decided whether or not they got money. When person A split the money 50/50 person B agreed 100% of the time and both people left the experiment with $50. However when person A got clever and decided that he would split the money up $80 dollars for himself and $20 for person B. Person B would say No a certain percentage of the time and neither person would leave the room with any money. The people who ran this experiment were baffled, logic would say that person B would just take the $20.

That’s not the way it works, as humans we hate to see the other person get the better deal so much that we are willing to forfeit our profit. Eben says that a lot of us sabotage our own success by doing this. Eben says that by learning to love getting the short end of the stick you can become very wealthy. Giving away $1,000 of value and then asking for $100 back.

A little Background on Eben Pagan. He is one of the the few in the internet marketing industry how actually made his money selling non-How to Make Money Stuff first.

Who Is He? He is an information marketer/entrepreneur famous for starting and owning Double Your Dating.com. I believe I heard him say that it does around 25 million dollar a year business that employ around 50 people and is 100% virtual.

Area of Expertise? Marketing, Information Marketing, Time Management, Business Development

Education? College Dropout/ Self-Taught

Previous Jobs? Manual Labor Copper smith, Real Estate Agent

Products? Guru Mastermind, Wake Up Productive, Ignition, Get Altitude, Guru HomeStudy Course, SelfMade Wealth

Eben is one of my mentors and I have learned an absolute ton from him I do not even know where to begin. So Ill start with a first things I learned from him a little over a year ago

1.Speed Of Implementation

A Research done by college about success showed that the one key factor for success was success was the Speed of Implementation. Which is the time between when you learn something and you put it into action. All successful people implement quickly. This Idea alone is the reason why I have this blog. I have adopted this as one of my own philosophies I can already see that it is making a difference. The minute I heard that you should have a personal blog that day I registered this domain name and began setting up this blog. Now I am not saying that I am perfect at this but I have noticed that being conscious of this has helped me so far.

2.The Road to Success is Not Obvious its Counter Intuitive

Eben Pagan makes the analogy that business is very similar to Carnival Games meaning that you can win once you know the trick which is not obvious.

This is the way most people think: How do I figure out how to get 1,000,000 people to give me 1 dollar? I know I have, you sit there scheming. If I invent this then I can get all these people to give me MONEY and then I will Have One Million Dollars

The New Mindset: How Do I give 1,000 dollars of value away for free to 1 million people and ask 10 dollars in return.

Counter Intuitive to give first, Eben says this alone is responsible for his success.

The Past Couple of Months I have been learning all about Copywriting? Copywriting is the ability to write a sales message or advertisement.

One of my goals after graduating college was to take some time off and start my own business. What most people dont realize is now with the internet you dont need thousands of dollars to start your own company. I went through 22 different course all on how to make money on the internet. I learned all about web design, Google Adwords, SEO, how to do market research on the internet. I even started my own affiliate marketing business and made some sales. One of the things that I was very interested in in this whole process was who everyone learned from because most of the internet marketers that were making 7 figure incomes did not have a college degree or even an MBA. I began to see some patterns and could see that they all learned from a couple of guys, Gary Halbert, Dan Kennedy, Jay Abraham, and John Carlton. What did those Guru’s of the Guru’s all have in common, they had the ability to write great advertisement. So the past two months I have spent learning this skill. The problem is that you cant go to college to learn this skill. Luckily Gary Halbert wrote a news letter for someone in my situation.

The First Step by Gary Halbert

So far I have Read

Scientific Advertising by Claude Hopkins

The Robert Collier Letter Book by Robert Collier

Tested Advertising by John Caples (5th Edition)

How to Write Good Advertisement by Vic Schwab

I am Currently Reading

The Lazy Man’s Way to Riches by Joe Karbo

Some of you might be turned off by how old these books are. These books are all about salesmanship in print. Basic Salesmanship has been around since the beginning of the human race.

“Don’t Get it Right Get it Going” is one saying that had helped me get as far as I am right now in various parts of my life.

“The longest journey starts with a single step.”

Most people look at what it would really take to do something, then they look at the amount of work involved and get intimated and as a result they never start. If I would have done that when learning how to snowboard eight years ago I would not have a that skill today. I believe in sports as with anything worthwhile in life getting good at is going to take time. You are gonna need to put in the time. You wanna learn how to play the guitar, I don’t care how musically talented you are not going to pick up the guitar and play “stair way to heaven”

“Anything you want to do well you must be willing to do it poorly at first” This is one of those simple sayings that Gary Halbert told me. It got me thinking hes absolutely right. This is where I think alot of people get stuck. You have to accept the fact that your going to suck at first. Michael Jordan I can bet wasn’t very good the first time he ever played basketball.

Remember Doing something poorly is better than doing nothing at all. Like Wayne Gretzky said you miss 100% of the shots you do not take.

Persistence and Hard work trumps Talent
and their is even more evidence to support this. In Malcolm Gladwell’s book Outliers: The Story of Success he talks about the 10,000 hr rule. Citing Examples from Bill Gates to the Beatles all how they spent over 10,000 hrs perfecting their craft. The most interesting example was a study done of the amount of practice time vs skill level of the violinist. They found a direct correlation between the amount of practice and the skill level. They could not find one “natural musician” in their study.

If you want something in life and you have been putting off for the fear of it taking to long. Break it down into baby steps. Think of it and take it one step at a time because in reality that is the only way that you are going to accomplish anything. You can’t lose 50 lbs if you don’t lose the first lb. Don’t worry about it being perfect, that was big problem of mine. This blog is a example of that, it is not perfect, you will see it change, but I did the most important thing and that is I got it going.
